Hello guys! Major Blizzard announcment happened yesterday! Michael Morhaime announced Starcraft HD Remaster in South Korea. Also game will be FREE TO DOWNLOAD later this week, with a new patch 1.18 arriving! Previously it was 19.99$ as far as i can remember as a part of Starcraft Anthology Pack.

how can i download Starcraft Broodwars for free?

They should be paying us and giving us the entire Bnet library for free.

So the original is free to download. However the main menu has a giant Remaster ad upon every visit. You know that classic charming menu? Yeah, it's 1/4 screen of an ad now. You know, because that's what I love about SC1 and older Blizz games. Then the options menu contains all the Remaster options greyed out. There's a difference between a free SC1, and an ad platform for the HD version. A free SC1 without ads can easily be found on the net.
Also the free classic version requires Blizz launcher spyware DRM. No thank you.
Waiting patiently for a Remaster full crack that will not require Blizz launcher obviuosly. I imagine they continually add monetized skins to the Remaster and advertise it in the menu. This isn't what gaming is about Blizz. You've made enough from kids through loot boxes in Overwatch.
I can see it now – SC1 online matchmaking. This player 1 did not buy the extra skins so let's pair them up against a player who did. Possibly player 1 will be tempted into buying skins.
Matchmaking based on skill? Lol, there's no money in that.

So does this mean that post patch 1.18 Starcraft 1 and Brood War 1998 will be Free-To-Play? Does this mean multiplayer on the classic edition is also free? I don't mind if I have to buy another copy of the 1998 battlechest to game on the updated servers but, you know, if I don't have to then I'll wait. ^_^

im hyped for d2 remastered! Blizz delay to publish d2 remastered, coz they loose most of d3 community. I keep it for my offline days. d2 with some mods like plugy (bigger shared stash) and perfect drop mod ( better drop rates + HR in some metchants) its very very good in single/ solo play.
